Indications:
Allylestrenol is indicated in Intra-Uterine Growth Retardation (IUGR), imminent abortion, spontaneous abortion, Threatened premature delivery
Pharmacology:
Allylestrenol may be a synthetic progesterone derivative that's wont to treat threatened pregnancies. It can stop occurring premature labour and may help women give birth to a healthy newborn. It stimulates the luteal phase in the myometrium, creates conditions for the development of the zygote. it's a tocolytic effect; reduces the sensitivity of the myometrium to oxytocin. It stimulates the event of an acinus of mammary glands, the secretory activity of trophoblasts, and the development of aldosterone by adrenal glands. Allylestrenol also features a selection of β-adrenergic effects. during this way, it stimulates the synthesis of the body's placental progesterone, therefore increasing the secretion of placental hormones.
Dosage & Administration:
Threatened Abortion: 5 mg 3 times daily for 5-7 days. If necessary, the treatment period could also be extended. After the disappearance of the symptoms, the dosage should be gradually reduced unless symptoms return.
Habitual abortion: 5-10 mg daily as soon as pregnancy has been diagnosed. The administration should be continued until a minimum of one month after the top of the critical period.
Threatened premature labour: The dosage must be determined individually. High dosages (up to 40 mg daily) are used.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity; thrombophlebitis; undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, partial abortion, hormone-dependent carcinoma, cerebral apoplexy, as a diagnostic assay for pregnancy; severe hepatic impairment.
Side Effects:
Treatment with Allylestrenol (especially an extended-term treatment) is understood to cause some gastrointestinal complaints like vomiting, nausea, and sometimes epigastric discomfort.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Allylestrenol is specifically designed to be taken during pregnancy. It should be discontinued after delivery because it may affect a nursing infant to a little but a noticeable degree.
Precautions & Warnings:
Patients with the subsequent conditions should be cautious: heart condition, congestive coronary failure, sick sinus syndrome, arteria coronaria disease, seizures, epilepsy, renal dysfunction, migraine headaches, or breathing diseases including asthma, emphysema, bronchitis, or COPD, breast-feeding.
Overdose Effects:
Symptoms of overdose may include unusual drowsiness; rapid pulse; fainting; unusual muscle movement or rigidity of the face, neck, or limbs; seizures; and loss of consciousness.
